New year, new page

The last weeks of December, thinking about the new year, I was trying to plan and set some goals. Goals important not only for my work as a scientist but also for my personal development. Starting my own webpage, and in particular a blog was somehow the right thing to do… And here I am. I am bit by bit putting together this webpage with a lot of care and love. It is still preliminary but I will continue updating it.

I am one of those lucky persons that can say I love my job! No it is not perfect and there are many times that I don´t want to do it, but at the end of the day it all makes sense. I love science, I love the essence of it, the questions, the possible explanations, the creativity involved to test them, the analyses and interpretation of results and the final sharing of findings. It is a way of living, my way of living. A life to keep on learning, discovering, being curious, in a way being student, but at the same time, to also be engaged to teach, share the knowledge and motivate next generations of scientists.

The main goal of this blog is to share my life and science experiences with you. If you are young I hope to engage you and motivate you to do science, to understand and discover the wonderful nature that surround us. Our world needs more scientists that take care of nature! If you are older, the same, I invite you to discover the wonderful plants I study, and why they might be important for our society and our future.

I hope you enjoy it. Next time I will be sharing a bit about myself and how I got into biology, the very start of this adventure.

An understanding of the natural world and what’s in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfillment
